The Pre-Law Society allows students to connect and have access to important events, including on-campus speakers, visits to law and courthouse faculties, and workshops to prepare for law school. WCU`s Business Administration and Law program provides students with a high-quality education in the areas of business administration and law, business policy, and strategy through teaching, research, and service. The program`s bachelor`s degree is unique to the University of North Carolina system and the only one of its kind east of the Mississippi River. The degree provides majors with solid business experience as well as the necessary pre-legal basis for law school. Graduates are perfectly positioned for advanced study or careers in a variety of industries, including advertising, banking, law, healthcare administration, and risk management. NOTE: WRS 105 and WRS 106 or ENG 106 or their equivalents must be completed before obtaining the classification of the junior year according to the general training requirements of the university.
In addition, all core business courses at level 100 and 200 must be completed before the end of the fifth semester of college thesis or during the semester in which the student completes 75 credit hours. Business law courses are taught according to the Socratic method with the aim of learning in a participatory way and developing argumentation skills. This active learning process requires students to articulate their analysis, develop and defend their positions, think critically, and engage in problem solving. Students learn to formulate effective legal analysis by synthesizing information, identifying legal issues, distinguishing relevant facts from irrelevant facts, using facts and law to support arguments, arguing analogously, and drawing conclusions based on analysis. In addition, in all courses, students deal with ethical issues in the business context, with the actual topics depending on the course content. Open the doors to careers at the intersection of business and law by completing a joint J.D. and MBA. The simultaneous acquisition of both degrees allows students to enter the job market one year earlier than if the degrees were completed one after the other. And by studying both disciplines, students benefit from a wider and more diverse network and are better prepared to work in a rapidly changing professional environment.
