In South Australia, there are restrictions on high-performance vehicles for P-plattlers under the age of 25 who hold their P1 driving licence from the age of 4. September 2010 or were disqualified on or after September 4, 2010 and are driving again with a P1 driver`s license. Hey guys, I`ll have my P`s in a few months and I`m interested in an Xr5, I`m wondering if it`s legal to drive them on P, I know it`s illegal to drive a turbo car on P, but is it maybe under the 125KW/T law? I am about to get my Ps (QLD) and I was looking for a car. I`m more of a fan of cars that look at XR5 turbos and Golf GTIs. I`m just worried about Volkswagen`s reputation for reliability. As well as the fuel consumption of the XR5 (as the fuel prices are pretty horrible). I`m just wondering what other cars I`m not looking at that would be comfortable to drive (15k or less). When the same base car as the Opel Astra OPC was sold here, its curb weight was 92 kg lower at 1494 kg. At the same peak power, the Opel`s power-to-weight ratio was 137.88 kW, making it out of reach of the P badges. Some of the extra weight in the Holden version is undoubtedly a consequence of a different specification – 20-inch alloy wheels than the 19-inch wheels of the OPC model, for example – but this raises an obvious question. The problem nowadays is that with calculators and tuning, the power-to-weight ratio is too difficult to apply. It`s easier to say no to anything that looks like a powerful car/engine. I learned so much more about controlling the car by testing the limits in a less powerful car and then building them as my experience grew.
